"Men give me credit for some genius. All the genius I have lies in this; when I have a subject in hand, I study it profoundly. Day and night it is before me. My mind becomes pervaded with it. Then the effort that I have made is what people are pleased to call the fruit of genius. It is the fruit of labor and thought."

UPDATED News story link click here: HYPOCRISY: Muhammad's image is far from a rarity as he is portrayed in Western and Islamic art. Not all Muslims say it is wrong!

"Liberty is meaningless where the right to utter ones thoughts and opinions has ceased to exist. That, of all rights, is the dread of tyrants. It is the right which they first of all strike down. They know its power. Thrones, dominions, principalities, and powers, founded in injustice and wrong, are sure to tremble, if men are allowed to reason
There can be on right of speech where any man[is] compelled to suppress his honest sentiments.
Equally clear is the right to hear. To suppress free speech is a double wrong. It violates the rights of the hearer as well as those of the speaker."
~ Frederick DOUGLASS
In famous plea for free speech in Boston 1860

UPDATED News story link click here: A worldwide battle for free speech is taking place, with Denmark at the center of the storm.

"The Freedoms of Speech and Press are the necessary Conditions for the Enlightenment of Human Life, which again is the only Thing, that can save Peoples and Nations, and Experience teaches, that where these Freedoms exist, one will find comfort from much other Burdensomeness and Unpleasantness; but where it is not, and in particular where one feels deprived from it, the People either descends to the Beast or cut up rough like the Wild Animals, and in both Cases it is indeed the End to Human Life."
~Niels Frederik Severin GRUNDTVIG,Danish social reformer and educationist, 1845

As I read the news online I continually observed the outbreak of violence in relation to twelve cartoons (see them all below) about the prophet Muhammad. To muslims it is blasphemous to make images of their prophet/guru. Muslim fundamentalists have threatened to bomb the newspapers offices and murder the cartoonists. There is a crisis of understanding that needs to be resolved; it must not be allowed to be hijacked by extremists on either side. Voltaire wrote that "I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend, to the death, your right to say it." Voltaire clearly implies that be defending anothers freedom you defend your own. I believe one can see how I feel in regard to this issue.

Here are the hard to find cartoons in their entirety which have so many Muslims violently upset worldwide which were published by Danish newspaper (Denmark) Jyllands-Posten:

In an online article by Jan Oberg, Director of the Transnational Foundation for Peace and Future Research stated that None of them (the cartoons) could possibly serve dialogue, mutual understanding or much needed public education between Danes and the Muslims anywhere. They are ill-willed. I disagree as these artistic statements should not be insulted and subject to such political correctness. Cartoonists were asked to express themselves and they did, so how can it wrong in any way to not be sincerely honest? Not only honest but to express oneself in an artistic manner instead of violent acts of hatred. Instead how about learning and growing from such by sitting down and drawing your own cartoon as it is an excellent way to practice meditation. Otherwise it is like Frederick Douglass stated Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want rain without thunder and lightning.

Finally I feel the need to ask why there is any violence at all over such by Muslims. While it is forbidden by this religious group you belong to do such, this does not stop others from depicting cartoons of such. I am a spiritual anarchist and I do not belong to any spiritual organizations as they are all based in ignorance and do not lead mankind to any truth. So when I see the pointing of fingers and guns at one another I also see the division and separation of mankind from one another as this is truly violent. If you want to blame someone, then blame yourself. If you want liberty, do not ask for liberation. No one can free you but yourself. If anyone else has need a need for their own commentary, please do so. Consider it an invitation on my part...that as well as to download these cartoons and send them all over the internet. Please copy and paste this entry but if you do please do with my entire commentary. Otherwise just take the images which you can also click on and see them by themselves.

Here is something from the Fellowship of Reconciliation:

***
There is a story in the Hadith (sayings and doings of the Prophet Muhammad) that Muhammad was with his companions in the simple mosque of Medina. The mosque had an earthen floor and was open on all sides. A Bedouin man walked in and began to urinate in the corner. Muhammad's companions were incensed, yelling at him to stop and threatening to assault him.
"No," the Prophet told his followers. Let him be. He does not know any better." When the man had finished, Muhammad addressed him gently: "This place is not meant for urine, but only for prayer and the remembrance of Allah." Then he told his followers to get water to wash the floor.
***

From this story it illustrates how there are places for everything. There is a place for political cartoons and a proper dialogue to see what they actually express about humanity.
